babushka babushka

Its funny how we're funny
U meet people in strange places
U form attachments
Sometimes they last,sometimes they dont
But ur life will be all the more sweeter because of this experience

A question comes to mind
Is it better to have short, fleeting, one of a kind relationships?
or long, mundane, comfy like my old pillow kind of relationship?

At what point do u look at the other person's face and feel annoyance instead of happiness?

which brings another question to mind,
Is it better to have easy-going shallow relationships with many different people?
or meaningful, bestfriends for life kind of relationships with a selected few?

And to have either of these relationships,
Is it better for u to be of the same disposition or the exact opposite?

Whats funny in life is that u can never predict these things
At least i think u cant
Sometimes it works out sometimes it doesnt

But leaving everything to chance and fate is something i am horrible at.
Staying in one place for a loooong period of time makes me uneasy.
And being a cynical being i can never trust a person wholeheartedly

Oh to be able to experience a day in the life of Regency England
which has absolutely nothing to do with this topic of conversation
but this is where my mind tends to float right this minute
To be one of the ton in their glorious dresses and attend balls
To meet dashing gentlemen who will murmur polite conversations and simultaneously seduce you with their eyes

One beauty of the written word,at least in the case of novels, is it presents a sort of escape into the imaginary world of your creation.
Your probably thinking but should'nt that be the author's creation?
I wont deny that the author does present a background for this world
but within those wondrous pages, you get to choose how the character looks like or how the setting ought to be from your imagination [ and the author's description of course]
Unlike in movies where everything is presented to you be it to your preference or not

And a novel is something you can appreciate yourself
it is YOURS.
of course u may want share a good story with a friend or two
but at the very moment u are reading, it is your very own little secret
Your sinful treasure [ mine is anyways! at least i like to think so]

which brings the last question to mind

Why bother with reality when that world inside ur mind could be excessively more entertaining?

But alas, we all need to return back to mother earth at some point in our lives
[At least i need to]

But the pleasures of a good book should always be appreciated from time to time

...And that is why folks i have acquired thousands and thousands of novels of which, as i have reminded my brother time and time again, i do not plan to sell EVER

theyre like a family heirloom
my daughter's lives will be all the more richer from it
Consider it a gate into a part of their mother's thoughts and imagination

And with that i shall bid u adieu
Sleeping late every night disrupts my mind and this is the result everytime
I tell u it works better than brandy.

Laissez les bons temps rouler!

i REALLY should be studying
in fact, i WAS
till i discovered something AMAZING
and i just had to blog :))

say hello to Disney's new animated feature The Princess and the Frog!!!
if there ever was a movie MADE for me this is it :)))
and i shall list down the reasons why for you :
1. if ur my friend u'd know i am quite partial to frogs and love the frog prince story in general
2. if ur my friend u'd also know my deep love for New Orleans and cajun ppl in general [ think Gambit, my darling Remi LeBeau :))))]
3. and last but CERTAINLY not the least, if ur my friend u'd know how crazy i am over the roaring twenties - the jazz, the booze, the flappers, the Great Gatsby, Bonnie and Clyde, Al Capone it practically gives me shivers :))

and whadya know,
this Disney movie has ALL three packed into one neat little package!
The Princess and the Frog is a fairytale set in the French Quarter of New Orleans during the 1920s
lots of jazz, lots of voodoo, lots of bayous and gators and gumbos :)))

take a look at the trailer :)

is it just me or did that firefly have a slight CAJUN accent???

I CANT WAAAAAAAAAIIIT

like they say down at the bayou,

Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler

[ this is what happens during exams, u blog excessively]

jeudi 4 juin 2009

Ruby

i HATE examinations with a fiery passion of a thousand suns!
Thankfully, i shall be done by this Monday
WHICH consequently, is ayah's birthday as well.

After that monstrosity just now,
i needed a little Disney pick-me-up
a little gaiety and merriment were most welcomed
But of course, HMV didnt even carry Alice in Wonderland
and they charge u a ridiculous amount of 17 pounds for Sleeping Beauty
what nonsense.

but my packages did arrive :)
my Disney pins, BamBam's notebook, ayah's present, the Marc Jacob shoes
and loads and loads of novels! :)))
Joy galore

So much for going to the movies tonite,
[i need to refrain, them jellies are causing my face to break out!!!]

a night in with a good book and a cup of hot tea will be very much appreciated.

" The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid"
Jane Austen, Northanger Abby

Quite eloquent of you, Jane dear
with unbelievable candour,I might add.

p.s i would like to thank Monsieur Mus'ab for remembering to wish me luck for every exam paper eventhough he currently resides in a country around 12 hours of flight away from where i currently am.
In other words, a country i call home.
Which i miss dearly.
or rather the people.
ok i'll stop now.

lundi 1 juin 2009

montagu, c'est moi

'twas a glorious day indeed!!

I know not why I am so merry
As i still have another TWO exam papers to go thru
These past few weeks i've been living in my own little world
[even more so than usual ;p]
I've been reading a lot of regency romances
So when I should be thinking of linear programming, business forecasting, and demand estimations,
The thing that is REALLY running through my mind is...

how GLORIOUS it would be if i were a debutante in regency England
well into my first season and already considered as an ORIGINAL :)
i would have Lord Byron write me a sonnet about my wit and intelligence
and i would have the most dashing dastardly scoundrel of a rake fall in love with me
after all, reformed rakes do make the best husbands :)
[it would be a nice bonus if he were to have a title of say,a duke ;p]
and we would run away to elope in Gretna Green :)

thus, i have decided
during my trip to london
i will not only make a looooong stop at the museum
but maybe a short trip to Almacks is very much needed :))))

Recently,
ive been watching a lot of disney again
[what can u do if ur cooped up at home forced to study, heh]
Namely, Belle and Pocahontas
Since those are the two characters i relate to the most
Ibu used to call me Pocahontas when i was younger
[ i think it was because i was very tanned and i used to get really red in the sun, having my hair in pigtails helped as well i guess]
and i am bookish which is similar to Belle
a regular bluestocking :)))
Plus i like them both because of their strong characters and the fact that they dont allow men to govern their actions.
Consequently, their significant others are very strong alpha male as well which i truly love :)

So here are a few videos from the movie
And you cant tell me their NOT romantic!
I had tears in my eyes watching them!

this scene from Pocahontas they didnt show it originally and theyve only recently released it in the 10th anniversary edition.
But ive always loved this song its unbelievably romantic!
and John Smith is just,WOW

heres the version with jon secada & shanice :)
this one they had it since it first came out
and they have the instrumental on the film as well
i used to play it again and again when i was smaller

today,
the guy at the cashier asked me
"Did you get your top from Urban Outfitter?"
*grins*
My top wasnt actually from Urban Outfitter,
but it was from Paul & Joe sister and they do carry the label in Urban Outfitter
so close enough :))
it made me smile though

oooh and ayah bought me something in Rome!
something Ibu would like to have it for herself
of course i told ibu she should take it and i can always just borrow it
but darling ibu said i should have it since ayah bought it for me yayyyy

so like i said,
glorious day indeed!! :)

p.s sorry for all the nonsensical ramblings but this is what happens to u when u stare at a book for too long or suffer mundane routines every single day throughout exam periods, boo-hoo

jeudi 28 mai 2009

the grass is looking mighty fine to me!

todays exam was...
not too bad
it could have been easier mind u
but it wasnt as hard as i predicted
apparently a lot of people said they crashed and burned
so now im a bit worried,
was it a trick question?did i miss something?

i would just like to point out that two of my friends
currently in Montepulciano
[where i was SUPPOSED to be as well if i didnt have these exams to deal with!]
were cast as extras in "NEW MOON"

so now lets have a moment of silence while i :
1) scream
2) pull my hair out
3) break a few expendable things in my room
4) moan on the unfairness of it all
5) grab the closest box of tissues lest my room becomes flooded with salty tears

Its the principle of it all people,
Im not that big on meeting the actors
[oh who am i kidding here]
BUT,
to be extras in an extremely BIG movie
a movie, that even if it sucks, will still be watched by many many MANY people all over the WHOLE WIDE WORLD
this was my only chance for fame, fortune and the likes

and just imagine,
if i WERE actually in the movie,
i'd be the only one in a headscarf!
thats like instant celebrity status there wahouuuu

alas, it wasnt meant to be

and all i can do is return to the pathetic student life that is my reality
but just u wait,
i know im meant for bigger things

i cant be this bossy and stubborn and not achieve amazing things
greatness shall be thrust upon me
and when that moment comes,
i'll embrace it with open arms and a big hearty laugh to boot!

CIAO!

p.s plus i did manage to get VERY cheap marc jacobs wedges so my day wasnt an entire waste hmph

mercredi 20 mai 2009

walter meego my alter ego,

its exam season again
your looking at a good 3 weeks all cooped up in the apartment pouring over books and books
and never ending tutorial questions, training tests, mock exam papers, past exam papers
let the waterworks begin!

Betty Suarez is officially my idol
at 24 she had accomplished so much
I have big hopes of getting a job in the big city after graduating
complete with my own apartment

net-a-porter has a position im interested in :)
or i might just go to VOGUE for work experience

the options are endless :))

samedi 2 mai 2009

the underdog,

Life is going by so slow nowadays.
Exams and assignments looming up ahead.
Like a time bomb about to explode.

After exams its all gonna change.

Bring on the fast pace and the dizzy rush.
I cant hardly wait.

eternally TWILIGHT.

ETERNAL TWILIGHT was...
Im just speechless.

I never expect it to be THAT amazing
Since it was an intimate gathering [of 800!]
And we were pre-warned not to bug the actors,
they felt comfortable in hanging around during the parties
So we got to rub shoulders with famous people that we've seen in that infamous movie ;p
As well as actually have meaningful conversations!
I won a guest encounter w/ Justin so got to chat with him for 45 mins with drinks and refreshment
And im extremely happy over what Peter wrote for me :))
Kellan came with his two actor friends,Ryan Rottman and Tanner Beard
Siobhan and I got to chat with Ryan for a bit [who was in the House Bunny!]
and we got a picture as well :)
Justin also came with an actor friend, Andy
who was doing a video for Justin in which i said "La push Baby, its LA PUSH! "
The weekend was full of "Hey Kellan,Hey Christian,Hey Ashley,Hey Peter,Hey Justin" moments
when they were walking around, outside for a fag, playing pool and even going to the loo
On which they also replied with a hey and a smile and possibly some idle chit chat :)
Had a small chat with Ashley abt how we're the same age
And get this,
she loves Audrey Hepburn and adores Urban Outfitter as well lol

I tell u the weekend was like something out of a dream
It was 3 days of Twilight,Twilight,Twilight!
There was a dealer room, posters,the trailer playing,guest talks,parties
And last but not least,
I met amazing people :)
That was one of the best part of the weekend
All the fantastic new friends I made

Thats why Im extra excited about the second one in October for New Moon :)
And get this,
in case u didnt believe me before about how amazing it was,
tickets for the second event has now sold out,
18 days after they started selling
its crazy!
[Moi, i got my ticket on the last day of the convention queuing at 6.30 am, going GOLD oh yeaaahhhh]

As you can see,
we had an AMAZING time
I love Belgium and it was so fantastic that we managed to cover both Brussels and Bruges
Two very endearing places for different reasons :))

The next order of business,
exam results are out and Im quite satisfied with mine :))
And next week ibu and ayah will be here YAYYYY!
I havent seen them for nearly 5 months ok so im entitled to a little enthusiasm :)

Unfortunately,
these weeks before easter are the most hectic of them all!
I have a Finance group project, a Managerial Economics Take Home Test, a French Listening Exam, and an International Business Strategy 10 page report
I predict i shall be very VERY busy in the near future

wish me luck!

p.s i will try to find time to squeeze in another blogpost regarding that TWILIGHT convention,
believe me,
it was THAT amazing.

Iconoclastic and Irrationalism

J'adore Manchester!
Pourquoi?

Well,lets start with
The University of Manchester
I love being part of a big university with many different departments!
My french lessons are always in the language, literature, religion studies building
And I always like to spend time reading the different modules offered to these courses
Modules like "Monsters,Madness, and Mayhem", "Creative Writing" and "Medieval Studies"
They even have a Medieval Society which I was seriously thinking of joining
Another thing I was thinking of joining was the FREE introduction to Catalan classes every Wed night
But then I thought it would clash with my french

Today, I had my Stats tutorial in the Martin Harris Center for Music and Drama
I love that department!
They have loads of great modules as well as seminars and awesome recitals
Im thinking of going for this workshop where u can either sit as an audience or actually come on stage an act!
Lots of creative juices flowing :)

The Manchester Business School on the other hand
The ppl there are a bit standoffish which everyone says is because they think their so superior based on the ranking
The lecturers are nice enough but the ppl at the reception could learn to be more friendly
On the other hand, the people at the Social Science Department is tres sympathique!

Another amazing thing,
is the Manchester Museum under the university
I've been in once and and its unbelievable
They even have mummies, dinosaurs and preserved animals in there!
And a thing i plan to do is,
to pack some food and eat at the museum's indoor picnic area :)

And i love the old gothic architecture of some of the old buildings around the uni
Though i'll be honest,
I dont quite like classes in these old buildings

Moving along,
the city center is pretty amazing
Its a shopping haven
You have all your high street brands under one roof
A cinema close by, several theatres, loads of clubs and various restaurants
On Saturdays, you have the Arndale fresh market and fashion market!
Plus Oldham Street has all these vintage secondhand shops for clothes and other goodies!
They even have an anime cum gamers store where u can buy manga, anime dvd and collectibles!

And did I mention the Manchester Art Gallery?
Or the huuuuuuuuge library and town hall?

Plus on Oldham Road i found this massive chinese grocery shop!!!
And they have everything from Malaysia
[ I found out yesterday whilst walking to Royal Mail]
so I bought chopsticks, chilli fried fish balls, so'on, lotus paste pau, dried bean curd
Red bean,Onde-Onde!!
i have this sudden craving for Asian food i shall explain later
They even have a small section selling Oriental Arts
From DVDs to decorations!

I know its nearly two years late,
but i love manchester! :)

Moving along,
I have been watching a lot of anime lately
And live-action dramas
So im currently loving everything japanese
And have decided once im fluent in French [cheh]
Im gonna take up Japanese :))))

Ooooh and another thing,
CHAIR DANCING IS WICKED!!!
We've just finished our routine to Britney's Womanizer
And are know doing Beyonce's Single Ladies
The dance moves are taken straight out of the vid clip
Can u imagine ???? :))))

And i just bought a book on Dada and Surrealism
I felt like reading a bit in depth knowledge on the topics
Not because im wierd like Darren puts it ;p

So thats a little update in the life of moi
Now i gotta go clean the apartment
Pak Long and family [minus tina and ozeir] arriving tomorrow
So gotta make sure everything is in tiptop shape
Imagine a character in one of those animes
Cleaning at top speed
[if uve watched anime ull understand the comical picture im trying to present here:)]

So cant talk,must clean :)

Ciao Ciao!!!

Waltz of the Flowers

first things first
watching DRACULA while having dinner
a BIG no-no
especially when ur having salmon and all that pink meat somewhat resembles...
u know what im getting at
which is a pity really
all that bloodsucking lusty action is something i could really get into on any other normal day
especially when Gary Oldham is said dracula :)

next
dont ever EVER decide to wear heels in the snow
especially when its been snowing two days straights
and its all wet and slippery
I nearly fell a couple of times
I tell u i usually like snow
But im getting to be seriously annoyed now
Especially since i always seem to be walking in the opposite direction as the snow
And i get all this white crap stuck to my nose my eyes my mouth
Not to mention how cold it is!!
Thank god classes today were bearable

X-Men Origin: Wolverine is coming out
Im not a big fan of his
But im a HUUUUUGE fan of Remy Lebeau a.k.a Gambit
even his name sounds nice!
Remy Lebeau Remy Lebeau Remy Lebeau
and whadya know,
after not making a SINGLE appearance in the first 3 x-men movies
[ i seriously dont understand why since he plays an important part in x-men and hes such an amazing character as well!]
He will finally be included in this new x-men movie!
yayyyyyyyy!!! so its definitely worth watching :))
That guy from kim sam soon will also be in the movie funnily enough haha

Moving along,
I called the hostel in Brussels just now
[ u know me lil miss bossy everything must be organized]
and the receptionist was a bit snooty
so much for good service huh?
At least ive got a pretty solid plan for our trip
Im just afraid we'll not be able to cover everything on the list
but i definitely vote for the
TOY MUSEUM!!!!!
i dont care i dont care i dont care
Its gonna be so magical with all the old-fashioned toys especially the mechanical ones im so excited!!!!
Sorta like u know that Uncle Drosselmeier guy from the Nutcracker Prince
Oooohh i do so hope they have a nutcracker!
Maybe a big lifelike statue which would be really amazing
Fingers crossed!

On that note I'll end this post
Since i still need to get ready for my chair dance provocateur class
wish me luck hopefully it'll be a breeze and really fun :)

p.s check out this video...its more than adorable :))

ciao ciao

just a spoonful of sugar,

Dear Iman
thank you for your interest in our MIB. Your profile looks really interesting. Your studies will correspond to the requirements for MIB. If you have the possibility to come to HEC, we organise our open day on March 14 (see attached).
I stay at your disposal for any other information that you might need.
best regards
britta delhay
development manager, msc

guess whos it frooooooooooommmmm
its the representative from HEC Paris!!!!
wahouuuuu * does a little shimmy around the very messy room*
I know its a little early but hey, I am graduating next year
Plus I was wondering if there were other modules I could take next year or the GMAT thingy which would make me a more attractive candidate for the degree
which is Masters of Science in International Business
I really like the degree structure
Theres four terms where u pick modules u like or want to specialise in and attend lectures, tutorials, etc
Then u have a business plan competition, business project and internship
plus u have to write a master thesis
However its very competitive and u have to be very innovative and creative and DRIVEN
Im not such a driven person
Im more mellow ;p

Ibu is not that keen on Paris tho.
For one thing, she thinks im really into the glamour of it all
[its true i am,part of me anyway ;p]
for another,
we have this be-yooooouuuuu-tiful apartment in Manchester
so why should we let it go to waste?
Manchester is one of the top business schools
BUT,
it doesnt sound so attractive when i say that ive got a bachelor and masters from Manchester
[at least for me]

but truly truly truly,
Im getting ahead of myself
I dont even know if i wanna do a masters
but its nice that ive already thought of some of my options :))
if it was up to ibu she wants me to go study Arabic in Damascus
i definitely do NOT see that happening tho ;p

Moving along,
I FINISHED EXAMS TODAYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!
its a wonderful day people
truly wonderful!
and i would like to thank some of the people who actually remembered i finished today!
ur calls and messages really made my day :))

And what better way to end the exam season
then a movie and looooooaaaads of jelly!
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
[alcohol is forbidden after all ;p]
i pity the people who still have exams
but oh well, thats life for uuuuuu
tomorrow is a BIG cleaning session for moi

on an entirely different note,
starting this Monday I shall be attending a chair dance provocateur class!!!
Which is sort of like lap dancing
can u say SEX-AY! ;p
its a little bonding and catching up time w/ Hayley so we thought we'd try something daring
By the end of the class i'll be licensed to charge for lap dances
ha ha ha ha ha

okay i couldnt resist this image from the movie FlashDance lol
Photobucket

on another note again,
i find myself missing, well to put it simply, magic
if u know me,
u know im big on witches, fairies, vampires and all those paranormal things
so Howl's Moving Castle is a repeat on my media player[ This movie is a must watch its timeless and so magical and beautiful even]
and I miss playing final fantasy [ which i asked bam to buy again woohoo]
and im watching the Nutcracker Prince again [ its splendid and u know how much i love Tchaikovsky]
and all those little magical whimsical tales
I miss Cave of the Golden Roses!!!!
Thumbelina, The Princess and The Goblin, NeverEnding Story, and fairytales of the like
lots of damsels not-so-in distress, lots of dashing knights in shining armour, magical folks, beautiful scenery
A dash of romance, a pinch of magic and a whole lotta adventure
And im happy :))

I cant wait to play final fantasy again
my fingers are practically itching
ok i'll put an end to this post because
lets face it,
its already quite long

and i have better things to do my first night after exams
then write a long winding blog post

so au revoir!
[which reminds me i really need to start practicing french again lest i forget it all]
